Join us at Tethered for a full-day, hands-on Drum Making Workshop with Darlene Doughty. In this intimate and intentional gathering, participants will craft their own 15” frame drum from start to finish, honoring both the art and spirit of the instrument.
The day begins with choosing your drum hoop and hide (options may include deer, water buffalo, elk, cow, horse, and moose; final availability will be shared as we get closer).
Together we will hold a simple gratitude ceremony to acknowledge the animal and its spirit—remembering the teachings each carries (for example, deer invites gentleness, compassion, and softening toward ourselves).
Darlene will then guide you step-by-step through connecting with your drum round, punching the hide, stretching and lacing the drum, and making your own drum beater. This is a slow, embodied process—plan to be present for the full day.
